Bajaj Platina 110: The Better Choice For The Daily Commute? Bajaj Platina 110 is made for Indian commuters who wish for mileage, convenience and value for money.
In the crowded youth commuter segment, where most bikes resemble each other, the Platina 110 is anything but that.
Unpretentious design, some utility and Bajaj’s record of solidly built motors make it a pragmatic everyday commuter for city and rural riders.
It’s also the only bike of its kind to boast ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), adding to its popularity.
Design – Simple but Functional
Nothing much to say about the design of the Platina 110 really, it’s less about the show and all about go.
It also has a modest yet practical look, with body-color mirrors, stylish decals, and alloy wheels. It has been developed in such a way that the fuel tank is shaped,
so it’s easier for the riders to hold their knees while the seat is long and well-cushioned and is meant to provide utmost comfort even during the long rides.
The headlamp receives an LED DRL and a halogen set-up that works effectively in the night. The tail-lamp and blinkers are basic but do the job.
It isn’t exactly a looker, but the Platina’s no-nonsense, mature design matches its utility-minded ethos.

Comfort-Centric Features
A key selling point of the Platina 110 is the emphasis it puts on the rider’s comfort.
It features a longer seat, rubber footpads and spring-soft suspension in the form of Nitrox rear shock absorbers and telescopic forks up front.
This set-up does a fantastic job of taking the sting out of potholes, bumpy roads and speed breakers, especially on semi-urban and rural roads.
The bike also gets a digital-analog dash laid out well with the gear position indicator, real time mileage indicator and other essential read-outs.
It’s not the newest cluster on the market, but it’s a highly efficient workhorse.
Sleek Engine, Slender But Full-force Ride For that not-so-cheap price, we expected to get as smooth an engine and ride as we did.
The Platina 110 gets a 115.45cc single-cylinder, air-cooled motor which produces close to 8.6 PS of power and 9.81 Nm of torque.
It comes mated with a 5-speed transmission, which makes it a little better on highways and on mileage as compared to any other commuter.
The powertrain is smooth and tractable for fuel efficiency and good city performance. The bike is free of vibrations, and is a pleasant to cruise around 60 – 70km/hr.
Thanks to its light weight and feather-light throttle, daily commuting on the Platina 110 feels like a piece of cake.
As for the mileage, Bajaj promises more than 70 km/l, which is good enough to be listed under the most fuel efficient bikes in India.
Ride Quality, Brakes and Handling
Platina 110 feels excellent in terms of ride quality. The suspension is such that however much the road is damaged, the ride remains smooth and steady.
The ergonomics are upright, with a natural handlebar position to the rider and footpegs that are positioned forward and help to prevent fatigure during longer trips.
Single Channel ABS is the stand-out safety feature here as is uncommon at this price point even in the disc brake version.
The use of a front disc brake and rear drum brake, both paired with CBS provides good stopping power and emergency braking safety.
The drum version, despite being less fancy, provides adequate breaking for daily commuting.

Bajaj Platina 110: Conclusion
The Bajaj Platina 110 represents great value for those who wish for a lot of comfort and mileage, without paying through the nose for it.
A commuter that ticks all the right boxes with segment-first features such as ABS, a refined and frugal engine and a suspension that has been tuned for our roads.
The MT 15 may not look like a winner of design contests and definitely not one of acceleration races too;
it is where it counts – in the daily ride to work, on potholed village roads and on a 100 km run without having to think about fuel.
For those who are in the market for a functional, commuter-friendly and affordable two-wheeler, the Platina 110 does offer sound value.
